Five more things to do on Reunion Island
Have you read South African blogger Katarina Mancama's list of her top 5 things to do on Reunion Island? Today, Natalie Roos, blogger at Tails Of A Mermaid shares five more things to do when you visit the island.
1. Check out the graffiti
The island is fulll of life, colour and art. You can hardly go a few meters without spotting some beautiful graffiti. It's a great way to learn about the culture and politics of the island, so keep an eye out.
2. Try yoga on the beach
You'll spot small groups of locals greeting the day with a few yoga sequences so don't be shy to pop into downward facing dog on the beach. The locals are very active - always running, cycling, hiking and doing yoga, so enjoy your own fitness routine on the island.
3. Swim in the warm Indian Ocean
While the sea is off-limits, the gorgeous, crystal clear lagoon is the perfect place to swim, snorkel and enjoy the warm water. Soak it up at l'Hermitage beach in Saint-Gilles.
4. Try the local beer
The local beer, Dodo, is pretty much the island's unoficcial icon and it's delicious. Try it with a plate of Creol tapas like samoosas as you enjoy the sunset.
5. See the island from the sky
It's hard to explain how beautiful Reunion Island is from the sky. The bluest water you've ever seen, lush green jungles and even an ancient volcano are difficult to put into words. You'll have to see it for yourself.
