Reunion Island is safe and welcomes children. With no need for malaria medication or vaccinations, you are just a plane ride away from paradise. There are a number of hotels that are child friendly in Reunion.
Many families opt to rent a self-catering house, affording them freedom and privacy. There are many good reliable nannies and even au pairs that can be pre-arranged but they will mostly be French-speaking.
Children will love the beaches and the gentle waters of the lagoon areas, where they can also play around on boats and kayaks as well as swim and play on the beach. There are many water parks, a few wildlife parks and an aquarium that children will enjoy.
Older children will enjoy the adventure of hiking to view a volcano or going on a tandem paraglide (aged 8-13 years) for a bird’s eye view.
Reunion Island has a good network of roads with hire cars, private taxis and busses. In case of emergency, there are well equipped hospitals and good medical staff as well as many excellent doctors in practice throughout the island.
